Description

Dr. Donna Hardy-Cox introduces Photovoice, a research strategy that involves photographs as a tool for social change. Some key concepts are: images can serve as teachers, pictures can influence policy, community members ought to participate in shaping policy, influential decision makers must be an audience to the perspectives of community members, and emphasis is on individual and community action to identify and implement action. Its goals are: to enable people to record and reflect their community's strengths and concerns, to promote critical dialogue and knowledge of important issues through large and small group discussions on photographs and to reach policy makers.
