Title
Position of Object Pronouns in French (in two-verb constructions - Exceptions)Creator
Roger House and Memorial University of Newfoundland. Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL)Description
In the french language, in two-verb constructions where the second verb is infinitive, the pronouns generally precede the second verb (infinitive). However, the only exception to this rule is in an affirmative imperative. In a positive command or request , the pronouns are positioned after the verb and are hyphenated. This audio clip demonstrates an example of the object pronoun placement in this situation.
Fais ton travail. >> Fais-le.
